\u25e6 Mezquita-Catedral de C\u00f3rdoba<\/span><\/h6>\n

The Mezquita Catedral de C\u00f3rdoba, also known as the Great Mosque of C\u00f3rdoba, traces its origins back to a small Visigothic church. After Islamic forces conquered C\u00f3rdoba in AD 711, the church was divided in half, establishing a coexistence of Islam and Christianity. In 786, after acquiring a portion of the church, Abd al-Rahman I built the Great Mosque of C\u00f3rdoba on the same location. It wasn't until 1236, during the Reconquista, that C\u00f3rdoba was reclaimed as a Christian territory, and the Great Mosque underwent a transformation into a Roman Catholic church.<\/p>\n

Within the tenets of Islam, mosques strictly prohibit any forms of idols, totems, or symbols. Yet, the Mosque-Cathedral of C\u00f3rdoba presents a striking exception. Within this well-preserved mosque, numerous murals and religious icons are prominently displayed.<\/p>\n

This unique blend of cultural heritage has not only earned the site its World Heritage status but has also made it a focal point of interest for many Muslim visitors.<\/p>\n
