Cieding was once home to the Tapuyen tribe, and the name \"Cieding\" is believed to be a transliteration of the indigenous word \"Cattia\" or \"Cattea.\" In the tribe's language, this term combines the characters for \"ten\" and \"fish,\" signifying \"land of many fish.\" Today, this region, known for its abundant fish, has become one of the most popular fishing harbors in southern Taiwan. Besides attracting tourists to its vibrant fish market, Cieding's rich fisheries serve as an excellent outdoor classroom. Furthermore, the area's deep-rooted religious culture enhances its significant potential for future development.<\/p>\n

I once visited the Xingda Harbor Tourist Fish Market on a weekend, anticipating a relaxed and enjoyable outing. However, as soon as my car entered the congested traffic, my good mood quickly faded, replaced by surprise: \"When did this place become so crowded?\" After finally arriving at the market, the once quiet fishing village image of Cieding in my mind vanished, gradually being replaced by that of a bustling tourist town.<\/p>\n

Since the 2010 merger of Kaohsiung City and County, Xingda Harbor has been transformed into a multifunctional tourist fishing port through redevelopment and expansion efforts by the Kaohsiung City Government. Besides its traditional fishing activities, the harbor now also handles a variety of aquaculture products. Seafood from the harbor is collected and subsequently distributed by vendors to other regions, establishing Xingda Harbor as the largest seafood distribution center in northern Kaohsiung and the leading producer of mullet roe in Taiwan.<\/p>\n

Before my visit to Cieding, a friend who previously lived there shared that his favorite post-basketball treat was a bowl of their rich, smooth douhua.<\/p>\n
After trying their peanut douhua, I finally understood why my friend holds it in such high regard. The douhua boasts a delightful aroma, while the peanuts are tender and creamy, delivering a flavor that reflects the care and dedication invested in its preparation\u2014a rare and charming quality in today\u2019s fast-paced world.<\/p>\n
