Italy ◦ Venice|The Labyrinthine Paths Once Missed are Gone Forever

by YU-LING

In Venice, as long as you remember the general location of your hotel and the train station, you can discard the map. Frankly, it doesn't help much.

From my experience, it is difficult for travelers to retrace their steps along previously traversed canals and pathways. If you miss them, you might lose them forever.

Whether to enter that shop or try that snack, you have to decide in the moment. The indecision of "let me think about it" doesn't work in Venice, a city composed of 118 small islands.
