Having just arrived in Brazil in the morning, my body was still on Taiwan's midnight time, making me incredibly tired. The best way to combat jet lag is to adjust to the local schedule. After taking a shower, I compelled myself to step outside, letting the potent aromas of the streets and bustling traffic stimulate my senses. However, nothing was as revitalizing as visiting my dream destination: the "Royal Portuguese Reading Room" (Real Gabinete Português de Leitura)!
The Royal Portuguese Reading Room is considered one of the top ten most beautiful libraries in the world. The designers incorporated numerous sculptures, tiles, and statues to celebrate Portugal's achievements during the Age of Exploration. In doing so, they aimed to elevate the cultural level of the Portuguese immigrants of that time.
This globally renowned library was smaller than I had imagined, but its delicacy greatly exceeded my expectations. As I wandered through, I felt as if I was immersed in a magical scene straight out of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
