Kaohsiung ◦ Cieding | The Hometown of Mullet Roe | TAIWAN 368–20

by YU-LING 2025-01-01
YU-LING

Adjacent to Tainan, Cieding is a coastal town renowned for its exceptional offshore fishing grounds and a well-developed harbor constructed from a lagoon. Many residents depend on nearshore fishing for their livelihoods. The highest recorded mullet catch in Taiwan was achieved at Xingda Harbor in Cieding. During the winter mullet season, the streets are often lined with golden mullet roe being sun-dried, signifying the "golden season" for local fishermen.

YU-LING

While I was looking up some information about local shops, I stumbled upon an article titled “Ten Traits of People from Zhongli You Need to Know.” Three points made me laugh out loud because they perfectly captured how I feel about the people from Zhongli: “Wherever they go, they proudly declare they are from Zhongli!”

New Taipei City ◦ Banqiao | Christmasland in New Taipei City | TAIWAN 368–17

by YU-LING 2024-12-11
YU-LING

For some reason, every time I arrive at Banqiao Station, I find myself caught in the experience of getting lost. Similar to Taipei Main Station, Banqiao Station is a complex structure where five different transit systems converge, with connections to various transportation options and shopping centers, making it feel like a maze. However, this complexity also underscores Banqiao's undeniable prosperity. In addition to its rapid commercial development, Banqiao is home to several renowned historical sites, such as the Lin Family Mansion and Garden. Experiencing the slow flow of cultural sentiments amidst the bustling urban area is one way to truly appreciate the essence of Banqiao.

Yunlin ◦ Huwei | The Hometown of Glove Puppetry | TAIWAN 368-17

by YU-LING 2024-12-04
YU-LING

Perhaps because I had spent some leisurely time in other towns in Yunlin, when I arrived in Huwei, the second-largest town in the region, it felt as though time sped up, and I had to quicken my pace to keep up with everyone.

以農業為主的虎尾,曾因製糖業的興盛而得到「糖都」的稱號,也因布袋戲國寶黃海岱與次子黃俊雄的推廣,讓虎尾有了「布袋戲的故鄉」的美名。

Yilan ◦ Jiaoxi | A Famous Hot Spring Town in Taiwan | TAIWAN 368–14

by YU-LING 2024-11-20
YU-LING

When I arrived in Jiaoxi, I initially intended to focus on the annual Hot Spring and Lantern Festival, but what left the deepest impression on me was the unique local landscape. Foot baths were scattered around every few streets, and nearly a hundred hot spring hotels shaped the area within a 2-kilometer radius of Jiaoxi Station.

[Hostinger Review] A Complete Guide to Moving from A2 Hosting to Hostinger

by YU-LING 2024-11-13
YU-LING

Last November, my three-year plan with A2 Hosting was coming to an end. One common issue when purchasing virtual hosting services is that the initial purchase is usually very affordable, often discounted by 70-80%. However, when it comes time to renew, prices skyrocket. Taking advantage of Black Friday deals and after thorough comparisons, I've decided to switch to Hostinger!

Pingtung ◦ Linluo | A Village Full of Hakka Charm | TAIWAN 368-13

by YU-LING 2024-11-06
YU-LING

The first impression Linluo gave me was how warm and united the people of this town are! Since the singer Julia Peng hails from Linluo, when she released her first Hakka album, the locals celebrated by hanging red cloth strips with creative Hakka text in their shops and homes. Even though I don't understand Hakka, I could feel how proud the residents are of this Golden Melody Award-winning singer!
