The image printed on the Russian 100 ruble note is that of the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre, which is celebrating its 240th anniversary this year. It was one of the main reasons for my visit to Moscow. The facade of the theatre is dominated by a striking statue of the sun god Apollo driving a chariot pulled by four bronze horses, making it one of Moscow's iconic landmarks.
This historic theater is home to the world's largest ballet company and a globally renowned opera troupe. Taking the opportunity, I watched the opera "The Tsar's Bride" at the theater. With a massive cast of over two hundred performers, the performance was not only awe-inspiring but also masterful, mirroring the grandeur of the building itself.
