As a light-roast enthusiast who hand-brews at least two cups every day, there was no way I was going to miss the Taiwan International Coffee Show 2026: Kaohsiung! This year’s expo is particularly exciting, bringing together more than 50 specialty coffee brands. The exhibition features everything from green beans and roasted beans to coffee liqueurs, professional equipment, and coffee brewing tools.

These six brands left a particularly strong impression on me after spending the whole morning exploring the expo, and they’re definitely worth recommending. They will also be participating in upcoming events in central and northern Taiwan, so you’ll have the chance to visit their booths and taste their excellent coffee. The Kaohsiung exhibition runs until March 9 (Mon)—coffee lovers in southern Taiwan should definitely check it out!

◦ 5 Specialty Coffee Brands to Try
01|SSSCafe

SSSCafe focuses on cultivating and promoting coffee beans grown in Taiwan. Just last month, they won the Grand Prize at the 2026 Taichung Top 10 Souvenirs Awards. They are dedicated to promoting Taiwanese coffee by sourcing high-quality beans from small farmers across different regions, including Chiayi, Nantou, Yunlin, and Taichung, and bringing the unique flavors of Taiwan to the world. Personally, I especially like the beans from Dabang Village in Alishan and Guanghua Village. They have bright, layered acidity and aroma—qualities that can easily rival international specialty coffees.

02|UPon Coffee

UPon Coffee is a well-known coffee roasting brand from Kaohsiung. They use world-competition–grade roasting machines—Giesen, Stronghold, and Diedrich—and maintain a temperature-controlled storage facility for specialty green beans, ensuring consistently reliable bean quality. I was especially impressed by their washed Geisha from Crozo. It has a bright, aromatic acidity with a clean, sweet finish—so good that I couldn’t resist going back for a second cup. If you’re a fan of Geisha coffee, this is definitely a booth you shouldn’t miss.

03|DAVIDYANG

DAVIDYANG from Tainan immediately caught my attention with their Ultra-Light Roast “Fruit Party” Series. During the fermentation process, fruits such as lychee, grapes, and cantaloupe are added, allowing the beans to develop bright, layered fruit notes. From the very first sip, you’ll experience a surprising burst of flavors that you’re unlikely to find anywhere else.

04|Seiyokawa coffee

Formerly known as “Jiulong,” Seiyokawa coffee is a brand from Taichung, and the owner is a frequent champion in coffee roasting competitions. The beans I drink most often are from Yirgacheffe, so I tried their “Ji Mei Hua Ji,” the 2024 TOH Washed Category Grand Champion. Its clean citrus notes and elegant floral aroma were unforgettable—so much so that I decided to bring a bag home with me.

05|Ever Fountain Coffee

Amid a sea of black coffee, Ever Fountain Coffee truly stands out. Their coffee whisky, with an alcohol content of up to 40%, is rich and full-bodied, beautifully combining the fruity notes of coffee with the woody aromas from whisky barrel aging. I immediately picked up two bottles—Orange Blossom and Muscat Grape.

◦ Best Souvenir Pick: Cat-Themed Drip Bag Coffee

After tasting my way through the expo, I felt that most of the specialty coffee brands there were already at a very solid level. However, one booth immediately caught my eye with its packaging—the cat-themed drip coffee bags by Nekomura Studio × Stand Up Coffee. As a devoted cat lover, I completely lost my self-control. I grabbed a whole stack and went straight to the checkout before even tasting them. After paying, I went back to sample a few of their coffees. They were smooth and well-balanced with a pleasant, lingering sweetness—exactly the kind of coffee that makes a safe yet delightful gift.
