Located in Nanzhou, Pingtung, formerly known as "Xizhou," the town was named after the "Xizhou River" flowing through it. Since there were many places in Taiwan named "Xizhou," to prevent confusion, it was renamed "Nanzhou" in 1956.
Home to the largest Guanyin Industrial Park in northern Taiwan, an important rice granary in Taoyuan, and a major lotus production area, this region also boasts a century-old lighthouse and the famous green tunnel scenic spot. Guanyin District excels in culture, tourism, industry, and agriculture.
