Five years ago, when I first came to Germany, the Volksbühne in Berlin was the first theater I visited. Five years later, I finally had the opportunity to attend a performance inside the theater, and, incredibly, I was fortunate enough to witness the legendary device: the fire curtain!
The fire curtain in the theater is an iron curtain that is only activated in case of danger. In other words, when you see this curtain, the audience should immediately follow evacuation instructions and leave the theater. Because of this, very few people have the opportunity to witness this safety device in person.
However, in the play "Pfush," the fire curtain is activated as part of the storyline, allowing us to see this iron curtain under safe conditions. It was truly a stroke of great luck!
