01｜Hosting.com Was Too Expensive
After my three-year plan with Hosting.com (formerly A2 Hosting) expired, I was quoted $719.64 for another 36 months. That works out to around NT$641 per month on average. That’s why I wanted to take a closer look at Hostinger before making the switch. Hostinger is a global web hosting company founded in Lithuania in 2004. After more than two decades in business, the company now serves millions of customers in more than 150 countries. Before switching, I read more than 10 Hostinger reviews and user experiences from both Taiwanese and international websites. Overall, the feedback was very positive, particularly when it came to website speed, performance, and customer support. ◦ How to Choose a Hostinger Plan?
Since my websites receive fewer than 1,000 visitors per day, I initially thought Hostinger’s entry-level Premium plan would be more than enough. However, after taking a closer look at the Unlimited plan, I realized that the price difference wasn’t that significant, while the additional features and resources were much more useful for my needs. In the end, I decided to go with the Unlimited plan. Here are the features that made the biggest difference for me.
01｜50 GB of NVMe Storage
I run a travel website with a lot of images, so I need plenty of storage space, especially when creating website backups. Hostinger also offers Chinese-language customer support. It’s Simplified Chinese rather than Traditional Chinese, but hey, having Chinese support is still better than having none, right? One interesting thing I noticed is that the price can vary slightly depending on the country or region selected in the language settings, partly because of differences in exchange rates. The difference is really small—very, very small—but if you’re curious, it’s worth comparing the prices for different regions before making your purchase.
◦ Who Is Hostinger Best For?
After comparing the plans and doing quite a bit of research, I think Hostinger is a great choice for small to medium-sized websites, blogs, and personal websites. For websites receiving fewer than 10,000 visits per month, Hostinger should be more than capable of handling typical workloads, especially for blogs and content-based websites. If your website regularly receives more than 10,000 monthly visits, you may want to consider the Ecommerce Startup plan or a higher-tier plan, depending on your needs. Alternatively, you could consider a more performance-focused hosting provider such as Bluehost or Cloudways, particularly if your website has higher traffic or requires more server resources.
◦ How to Migrate Your Website to Hostinger
Since my previous hosting provider was Hosting.com (formerly A2 Hosting), I’ll use Hosting.com as the example in this guide. However, the overall migration process is very similar regardless of which hosting provider you’re currently using.

02｜Back Up Your Website—This Is VERY Important!
Before starting the migration, always make a backup of your website. If something goes wrong during the migration, or if you discover that some files or data are missing afterward, having a complete backup gives you a way to restore your website. I recommend making two separate backups:
1. Back up WordPress: If you’re using WordPress, use a backup plugin such as WPvivid Backup to back up your website to cloud storage.
2. Make a second backup: As an extra precaution, log in to your Hosting.com cPanel and use the Backup feature to create a backup of your website data. You can never be too careful when it comes to backups!
03｜Set Up Your Website in Hostinger
One thing I really like about Hostinger is how simple and user-friendly the setup process is. It took me less than five minutes to complete the initial setup. Here’s what you need to do:
1. Select your website.
2. Select who the website is for.
3. Choose Migrate Website.
4. Enter your current website URL.
5. Choose a server location. Hostinger will recommend a server based on your location. If you’re located in Taiwan, for example, Hostinger may recommend a server in Indonesia or Singapore.
Then, the migration process begins—it’s that easy!
04｜Migration Complete
The migration process was surprisingly fast in my experience. I went to lunch and, when I came back, I had already received an email notifying me that the migration was complete. The entire process took less than four hours. Of course, migration times can vary depending on the size of your website and the hosting environment, so your experience may be different.
05｜Point Your Domain’s DNS to Hostinger
The migration isn’t quite finished yet. Once your website has been migrated, you still need to point your domain’s DNS (Domain Name System) to your new Hostinger server. Here’s how:
1. Connect the domain.
2. My domain host was not listed, so I selected "Other."
3. Go to your domain host (note: this may be different from your hosting provider), and paste Hostinger’s two provided nameservers into your domain host’s “External Nameservers” field.
4. Click “Continue” to initiate the connection, which completes within 24 hours.
5. It’s normal for the website to be temporarily unavailable during this period. If it takes more than 24 hours, contact Hostinger support.
06｜Check if DNS is Pointing to the New IP Address
Once the website is back online, go to DNSChecker , enter your website URL, and confirm that all entries point to the new IP address. If so, you’re all set!
