NANTA, a South Korean production, made a triumphant comeback to Asia after its successful run on Broadway. This show breaks language and cultural barriers, captivating audiences primarily through its settings and rhythms.
Set in a kitchen, NANTA tells a comical tale of mishaps as four chefs prepare a feast for guests. Pots, pans, and utensils transform into lively percussion instruments, while vegetables and radishes add to the mesmerizing visual spectacle, creating an intriguing atmosphere. The powerful rhythms, combined with the actors' tossing and juggling of bowls and plates, momentarily blur the distinction between being in a kitchen and being in an intense competition arena.
The highly interactive and entertaining show left me speechless and sparked a strong interest in South Korea's performing arts.
