Today is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. What does this have to do with me, someone without any religious beliefs?
At this moment, I am dining in a restaurant. I only found out when another table was settling their bill. On this sacred day, banks are closed and shops don't accept card payments. With only 10€ in cash on me, I've already finished a 12€ seafood pasta and a 2€ bottle of mineral water. Furthermore, in just half an hour, I am set to head to the next city.
For the first time in my life, I felt incredibly embarrassed because I couldn't afford to pay for my meal.
The restaurant owner, seemingly understanding, kindly said, "It's okay, 10€ will do." I believe this will be a day I'll never forget in my lifetime - the day I couldn't pay my entire bill!
