When I arrived in Jiaoxi, I initially intended to focus on the annual Hot Spring and Lantern Festival, but what left the deepest impression on me was the unique local landscape. Foot baths were scattered around every few streets, and nearly a hundred hot spring hotels shaped the area within a 2-kilometer radius of Jiaoxi Station.
The first impression Linluo gave me was how warm and united the people of this town are! Since the singer Julia Peng hails from Linluo, when she released her first Hakka album, the locals celebrated by hanging red cloth strips with creative Hakka text in their shops and homes. Even though I don't understand Hakka, I could feel how proud the residents are of this Golden Melody Award-winning singer!
Beimen, located in the northwestern coastal region of Tainan, is the most developed township for the salt production industry in Taiwan. In the past, nearly every household relied on salt production for their livelihood. Today, it has further developed into a major festival that uses salt as a medium.
Today marks "Shuangjiang," one of the 24 solar terms, signifying the weather turning colder and dew forming frost. During this season, the silver grass in the mountainous town of Ruifang gradually blooms, covering the hillsides and creating an ethereal landscape! After descending the mountain, I headed towards the Gold Museum to continue exploring the mining sites and landscapes of Ruifang.
Located on the Chianan Plain, Guantian in Tainan has a hot and humid climate that is ideal for growing water caltrops, rice, sugarcane, and mangoes. Guantian has the largest area and highest production of water caltrops in the country, earning it the title "The Land of Water Caltrops."
Autumn is coming! Every year from October to November, it's the season when the miscanthus blooms. Whether in the mountains or by the river, you can admire the miscanthus swaying like silver waves. Houlong Cape of Good Hope , located at the highest point of the hills, is an excellent spot to appreciate the miscanthus. Besides the miscanthus, Houlong's unique Hakka characteristics continue to surprise me!
Kaohsiung ◦ Gangshan | The Only Remaining Bamboo Basket Festival in Taiwan | TAIWAN 368-08
In addition to the "Three Treasures of Gangshan"—mutton, honey, and soybean paste—the dedicated efforts of a group promoting local culture and history have revealed the region's rich historical landscape to us. This time, we explored Gangshan Old Street, capturing its essence, and also climbed to the top of the Siaogangshan Skywalk. From this vantage point, we could see the entire Kaohsiung.
When people visit Nantou, their first stop is often Yuchih Township, a place blessed with scenic lakes, mountains, and rich culture. Whether by bus or driving along the highway, the journey through the misty Sun Moon Lake and the rolling hills is a visual delight. The shimmering waters and the lush mountains create a mesmerizing landscape.
As the train slowly leaves Pingtung and arrives at Dawu in Taitung, the scenery outside the window becomes more magnificent. The seamless blend of Taitung's blue sky and the sparkling white waves sweeps away my gloom, leaving a bright and tranquil feeling. There's no denying that Taitung Blue has a magical, healing power!
