After arriving in Malaysia, I went into "super eater" mode. I started eating five meals a day, including snacks and desserts in between. On my first visit, I couldn't wait to indulge in all the delicious Malaysian cuisine I had been yearning for. Plus, with the current exchange rate, it felt like I was getting a 26% discount. In a moment as good as this, of course, I should indulge and enjoy to the fullest!
In Malaysia, I had the opportunity to try a variety of delicious dishes such as Laksa, Satay, Bak Kut Teh, Coconut Rice, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Durian Jelly, Moonlight Hor Fun Noodles, Chicken Rice Balls, Nyonya Kuih, Nyonya Dumplings, and Lo Han Guo Tea. What really made my mouth water and left me wanting more are these three local favorites!

◦ Laksa
During this trip, I tried three different places for Laksa, and my absolute favorite was the one from the unnamed shop on Petaling Street(茨廠街) – their Asam Laksa. They make the soup base using Indian mackerel and then cook it with ingredients and spices such as pineapple, lemongrass, chili, and tamarind slices. It's tangy, spicy, and incredibly appetizing!
◦ Durian Cendol
Durian isn't my favorite fruit, but when it's combined with flavors like coconut milk, palm sugar, and pandan leaves, it becomes a heavenly and refreshing dessert!
◦ Chicken Rice Ball
Chicken Rice Balls are a local delicacy in Malacca. They are created by steaming rice and chicken broth together and shaping them into ping pong-sized balls. These rice balls are then served with white-cut chicken. The rice balls have a naturally savory flavor due to the chicken broth. When you dip them in chicken oil and special chili sauce, it creates a simple yet incredibly delicious dish that leaves you craving for more!
