Located in the central southern mountains at an altitude of 1,868 meters, Nuwara Eliya is the highest region in Sri Lanka and a major production area for Ceylon tea. Many buildings from the British colonial period remain here, earning it the nickname "Little England."
As soon as I got off the train, the cool temperatures and lush green tea gardens helped lift my spirits.

◦ Nuwara Eliya Post Office
This is one of the oldest post offices in Sri Lanka. The Tudor-style red brick building with a clock tower has become a prominent landmark of the country. Since its completion in 1894, it has continuously served as a post office.
The postcards sold here are of good quality and cheaper than those at tourist spots (50 LKR per card).
People write postcards inside the post office. I think sending postcards is still something many people consider a must-do when traveling!

◦ Mackwoods Tea Centre
When you visit Nuwara Eliya, one of the world's best tea-growing regions, you must tour a tea factory and plantation! The Damro, formerly known as Mackwoods, has over 160 years of history and is Sri Lanka's largest and finest black tea brand.
As you enter the tea factory, a guide will show you how tea is made. When the factory doors open, you'll be greeted by a strong, delightful tea aroma! Each step of the process, from picking and drying to cutting the leaves, is fascinating for tea lovers.
After learning about tea production, the guide will invite you to choose a tea to taste from a selection of varieties. The tea you try will be made from whole leaves, allowing you to see how they unfurl in the water. I tried the Golden Flower Infuse, which includes tea flowers, making the aroma even more fragrant! Additionally, the friendly staff will serve you a smooth cup of plain black tea.

◦ Pedro Tea Center and Factory
This tea plantation is closer to the city, and I prefer the atmosphere here compared to Damro! At Pedro, you can get even closer to the tea fields and enjoy the fragrance of the tea leaves. At Pedro, you can get even closer to the tea fields and enjoy the fragrance of the tea leaves.
Photography is not allowed during the factory tour, but you can observe the machines and equipment up close, providing you with a sense of the hard work involved in making tea.

◦ KMC Restaurant
This restaurant has a very "Western" appearance, but it actually serves traditional Indian curry, fried rice, and snacks. It offers a wide variety of choices at affordable prices, making it popular with locals. Moreover, the owner is very kind. If he sees your plate running low on curry, he constantly checks if you need more. Sri Lankan people are truly thoughtful!

◦ Blue Moon Hotel
The location is convenient, situated between the Pink Post Office and Gregory Lake. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to either of these places. For a nightly rate of 16 USD, the rooms are quite good. The water pressure is strong, the hot water is plentiful, and the bed and pillows are very comfortable!
