Jordan ◦ Israel | Wadi Araba Crossing: Heading to Israel from the Southern Crossing

by YU-LING

After concluding the journey in Wadi Rum, if the next destination is Israel, taking the Wadi Araba Crossing is the most economical and convenient choice. To reach Araba from Wadi Rum, a taxi ride costs approximately 25-35 JOD per car (07/2023). It is advisable to discuss this in advance with the camp to avoid any additional charges during the taxi ride.

◦ Wadi Araba Crossing
01|Advantages
  • Compared to the bustling central border crossings, the Southern Border Crossing has significantly fewer people. Around 11 AM, I spent only 15 minutes successfully entering Israel.
  • Exemption from the 10 JOD departure tax (07/2023)
  • Currency Exchange: Although the exchange rate may be slightly unfavorable, it is quite convenient for those who prefer to have cash on hand.

02|Disadvantages

If you are planning to visit Jerusalem, be aware of the limited buses available from the nearby bus station, Robin Border Crossing/Road 90.

◦ Get to Jerusalem after exiting the border

After clearing customs, walk approximately 1 kilometer to reach the bus station at Robin Border Crossing/Road 90. Take bus number 444, and after a 5-hour journey, you will arrive at Jerusalem Central Station.

◦ Bus 444

The bus fare is ₪ 59 (07/2023). As cash is not accepted on the bus, it is advisable to purchase a Rav-Kav card from a Taiwanese community beforehand or ask fellow passengers to help with payment.

◦ Rest stops along the way
01|Yellow

There will be a 15-minute break at the rest stop located at the Yellow gas station.

02|Ein Bokek

A rest area near the Dead Sea, with a 10-minute break.
