Column | If Thailand is a Paradise for Massages, Then Chiang Mai Must Be the Pinnacle of That Paradise!

by YU-LING

After a tough Muay Thai class, I treated myself to a two-hour Thai massage to ease my sore muscles. If Thailand is known for its massages, then Chiang Mai is definitely the best place to experience them!

When it comes to Thai massage prices, in Bangkok and Koh Samui, it usually costs around 300 NTD for an hour. However, up in Northern Thailand, you can find amazing deals for as low as 200, or even 180 or 150 NTD. What's most impressive is that, regardless of the price, the quality of the massage is always top-notch.

This made me start thinking about the connection between hard work and the rewards one receives. For tourists, these services at such affordable prices are definitely a great deal. However, can such low-income levels really provide the local people with the opportunity to improve their lives and achieve self-fulfillment?
